As the summer's lengthy days of sunshine begin to fade, so does the demand for gardening tools, outdoor furniture, and other summer necessities. Here are some strategies for storing your outdoor furniture.
GRILL
To prevent bacteria from forming on the grates of your grill throughout the winter, give it a good scrubbing before the cold weather sets in. Mothballs placed in a dish and placed on the grill can prevent mice and other tiny rodents from making the grill their winter home.
PATIO CHAIRS
Remove all cushions and pillows from your outdoor furniture and place them in garbage bags. During the winter, keep the bags somewhere dry. The chairs can be covered with a tarp, and if the chairs are made of canvas or another fabric, sprinkling them with baking soda will help keep them dry during wet weather.
HAMMOCK
Fold your hammock and store it in a plastic bag or container. To prevent the growth of mold and mildew and to keep strands and fabrics dry during damp weather, sprinkle baking soda on them.
